An update on NewSpace from Silicon Valley
Early February 2019, Hyperion Technologies exhibited at its first show of the year: the SmallSat Symposium in Mountain View, California. Silicon Valley traditionally hosts the most innovative companies and individuals in the NewSpace market and this event was not to be missed.
The symposium hosted exhibitors, speakers and visitors from the entire value chain of the SmallSat market, highlighting its diversity and disruptive nature of the many new business models. In the interactive sessions, panellists discussed the diverse facets and current difficulties that start-ups are facing, ranging from technology, funding to regulations.
Hyperion was proud to exhibit its latest products at this event to support such start-ups, such as the latest update of its Sunsensor series SS200, as well as the Green Propulsion module PM200, co-developed with Dawn Aerospace – both targeted at improving attitude control and navigation of Small Satellites, extending their lifetime and performance.
Looking at the future developments of the SmallSat market, Hyperion gave a preview into the Laser Communication Terminal, co-developed with TNO, which will enable high-coverage Earth Observation satellites to be faster in downloading its data to users on Earth. This terminal and its features will be exhibited at our upcoming shows in 2019 and we are looking forward to many fruitful discussions with our business partners and interested parties.
